Foals of 2013

Here at Benson Ranch we wait eagerly for our foals as they are a result of much careful planning and big dreams. Most of our breeding donkeys are part of the Circle C herd and are Grant and Sharon Cooke’s legacy. It is an honor to have the herd here and a privilege to watch foals of this quality arrive.
 And so 2013 is upon us – and oh, my my, what a way to begin! I LOVE what I do, and I love it when my dreams of genetic principles give me what I think they might. My donkeys bring me such joy, all through the year, when cleaning pens, or working on feet, or whatever. I feel so fortunate to have them in my life. The celebration of a new life is a miracle every time.

Rosie is a beauty. She is a great color, with huge white eye rings, and long ears. She looks so much like her dam. Once again we are blessed in that Flambe’ has only given us one jennet foal in the past. This little girl is lovely!

This is the last foal of our beloved Jazzy Jamm.  We lost him in 2012. The reality of raising Miniature Donkeys is that sometime you have to say “good bye”. Jazzy was special and so is this little girl.

What a handsome boy and what a fun color. He is a medium sorrel (I think) with extensive roaning on this face and kind of a frost overall. He has substantial bone and a handsome face. I really like this boy!
